Board of Directors and Agency Leadership : RCC Welcomes New Executive Director
The Rape Crisis Center welcomes Erin Thornley-Parisi who joined the agency as the Executive Director on June 1, 2015. Thornley-Parisi served as the interim executive director for six months before being hired for the permanent ED role. She comes to the agency with two decades of experience in the fields of sexual assault, violence against women and children, and non-profit management. During her tenure as executive director for the Wisconsin Coalition Against Sexual Assault, that agency developed the Statewide Law Enforcement Sexual Assault Investigation Training Program, the Statewide Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training Program and the Statewide Sexual Assault Victim Advocacy School, all initiatives still thriving today. As a social policy consultant specializing in sensitive crimes Thornley-Parisi worked with both non-profit agencies and law makers on the development of public policy, the creation and implementation of compatible outreach platforms, and educational strategies to help non-profit agencies effectively engage in public policy development. Thornley-Parisi worked for several years as the executive director of Canopy Center, a child abuse prevention and treatment agency that specializes in working with victims of incest. She served as a consultant on the Agenda to the Nation on Violence Against Women Project developed by President Clinton's National Advisory Council on Violence Against Women, and on a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention panel to develop the national Sexual Violence Definitions Public Health Surveillance Project. She worked at Madison College as the Government Relations and Public Affairs Manager and at the Wisconsin Institute for Learning Disabilities and Dyslexia as the Director of Development. Thornley-Parisi has a B.A. from UW-Madison in Behavioral Science and Law and an A.A. in Liberal Studies from Columbia College. "I'm thrilled with this new role and excited to work with the Rape Crisis Center, an agency I've supported and worked with for many years," says Thornley-Parisi. "The Board of Directors and staff have been wonderful to work with during my interim position and we look forward to working together in this new and exciting era."
